Live your life

My absolute favourite song. That I don’t know what the rest of the song says, or that it may not go with what I have attributed to it or what I get from it is also irrelevant. It’s the first line that I just blows me away. Live your life. Such a simple and yet profound statement. Live your life. The very first time I heard it I asked myself, ‘Who’s life am I living?’ And I was surprised when I unpacked that ...

Sowing dreams

I honestly did not know what to title this one. I saw someone tweet that ‘Tshimo ga e lengwe ka loleme’ and I was intrigued. Loosely transalted, it says, You do not plant or sow a field with your tongue. Yep, you actually do not. Talking about it will not cause anything to happen. Talking to the field will not make anything happen. So why do you think that talking about your dreams will make things magically happen for you? Without working ...

Are you challenging yourself Enough

I have been struggling lately. I ended the last year on such a high, I honestly thought it would carry through to the new year. But nope, I am struggling to get back to form. Even gym hasn’t really seen me much this year. But you made such good time on the 15km Bay to Bay you say? Well, that’s Bay to Bay. It seems to be the one thing I do ever since I started. After that my one day of rest turns into a week and before I know ...

3 Ways to boost your confidence

Where would you be if you were confident? What would you do? What would you be doing? There is definately no doubt in my mind that you would be living the best version of your life if you were confident.   1.Don’t compare yourself to anyone else I know this is easier said than done. You have probably found yourself comparing your fine self to someone else without even knowing you are doing that. Comparing steals your ...

Taking Charge of your day

I will admit, up until recently I was one of the people who didn’t have a morning routine. I was a regular get up and go girl. And 70% of the time it was more of a get up and run kinda situation. I would read or watch tv until late then wake up as late as I could possibly push it and that was how the rest of my day would go… unstructured and in a rush. Before I got married and had kids it kinda worked, I didn’t know any better so that ...

5 ways to fall in love with Monday

I used to dread Mondays. Like break down in a sweat have a tummy ache kinda dread. I didn’t know what to do. My weekend consisted of only one productive day as I spent the Sunday in bed or walking aimlessly around the house. I tried a lot of things. Exercise which helped a lot, reading, affirmations, cooking and baking. And they all worked…. when I was busy. The minute my head hit the pillow the restlessness and anxiety of the ...

Tomorrow – Now or Never

James 4:14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.   We all know that elusive beast called tomorrow very well. At the getsmart Women in leadership programme I attended, the panelist were asked to share one thing they live by or that gets them motivated. One of them, said ‘If not now, then when!’. I absolutely loved it! She went on to ...

How to get up when you feel sad and down!

Humans are generally groupies. I think that is how we are wired. To be with other humans, working together towards sometimes similar and often times not so similar goals. Why else would there be a saying like ‘No man is an island’? 😊 No, it is true, no man is an island, we all need someone or some people to help us, cheer us along. We also need to help others, cheer them along, pull them up. But what happens when everyone ...

Because sometimes you will not win

I completed the 15K race in 2 hours and 7 minutes. It wasn’t the greatest time by any means, but for me it was perfect. I had a training injury the week before and though I tried to rest more my legs felt like they were getting heavier and more painful by the day. I bought a cream to massage on my legs and though it seemed to work, imagine my shock when 2 days later I was breaking out. I was reacting to the cream, so I stopped. I went ...
